The Urban League of Greater Miami implements a number of programs designed to help students and parents in the
Liberty City area reach their full potential. Programs include after-school educational, test prep, and family skills-
building programs, as well as anti-crime and anti-violence initiatives.

Achievement Matters is a coordinated, intensified and sustained effort to raise the achievement levels and strengthen the social skills of Black Americans and Urban youth in the Miami Dade County Public School System. Sponsored by the Office of the Attorney General of Florida. More Black-on-Black Crime Prevention Program is a public awareness and educational effort to motivate the Black community to support, promote and participate in crime prevention programs and activities. Knight Childhood Learning & Development Center provides quality affordable developmentally appropriate care for children zero to five years. The is open 24 hours per day, seven days a week. More

Family Computer Learning Laboratory. A collaboration between the Department of Housing & Urban Development, the Miami Dade County Public Schools, Miami Dade Community College North Campus, State Farm Insurance Co., and the Urban League of Greater Miami, Inc., offering life-long learning programs for pre-school through retirement age, and promoting computer literacy. Rainbow Club Home Visiting Initiative is a health orientated, neighborhood outreach effort designed to improve the life chance factors for at-risk adolescent mothers and infants. The initiative offers individualized home contact with participants during pregnancy and for a period of twelve months following delivery. Sponsored by Our Kids of Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties and the Fisher Island Philanthropic Foundation. More Achievement Matters Test Camps. Funded by the College Board of Florida, the test camps provide PSAT/SAT test preparation for middle school and high school students (ages 12-18) in Liberty City and other parts of Miami-Dade County. Youth Crime Prevention & Intervention Offers a series of activities, implemented to deter youth, at-risk, of criminal involvement. Meaningful individual and group activities are offered as an alternative to crime and incarceration. The program, funded by the State of Florida-Department of Community Affairs, serves some 2,000 youth and adults annually. More Asthma Intervention Relief (AIR) Program provides valuable education and asthma management supplies to underserved families in the Liberty City area. Families enrolled in the program receive supplies to help monitor their child’s asthma. Counseling is also available. A partnership of the ULGM and the Economic Opportunity Family Health Center, sponsored by the Health Foundation of South Florida More Liberty City Partnership. Designed to help Liberty City adolescents successfully transition into adulthood and to break the cycle of poverty and low achievement among the area’s youth, the program brings together 18 partner organizations providing a full spectrum of adolescent services, along with community stakeholders.
